Lock Setup and Customization

10. Lock Setup and Customization

i. Mounting the lock

Fitting Guide

Original LINKA and LEO 2 are mounted on the seat stays of the bike. When locked, the lock will secure the rear wheel of the bike. The Fitting Guide can be accessed here: https://linkafleets.com/pages/fitting-guide

A spec sheet of the lock can be found here:

  • ● Original LINKA - https://linkafleets.com/pages/original-linka#tech-specs

  • ● LEO 2 - https://linkafleets.com/pages/leo-2#tech-specs

A printout diagram of the lock can be found here:

  • ● Original LINKA - https://test.linkalock.com/i/Original_LINKA_Fit_Guide.pdf

  • ● LEO 2 - https://test.linkalock.com/i/LEO%202%20Fitting%20Diagram.pdf

In some situations, the lock also can be mounted on the front fork of the bike, which will secure the front wheel of the bike.

    Mounting with Screws

On certain bikes, screw holes are available on the rear seat stays of the bike. The Original LINKA and LEO 2 can be mounted using the available screw holes.

    Metal Straps

If screw holes are not available on a bike, the lock can also be mounted using metal straps. The straps can be secured to the seat stays of the bike.

    Heavy Duty Chain

The Heavy Duty chain allows the bike to be secured to a bike rack when locked. The chain is designed to allow the locking ring of the Original LINKA or LEO 2 to be threaded through the loop on the end of the chain. The user will hold the chain in place while locking the Original LINKA or LEO 2.

Tethersense Chain - LEO 2 Only

54

The Tethersense Chain allows a bike to be secured to a bike rack. The chain is designed to connect to a locking mechanism on the LEO 2. When the user inserts the Tethersense Chain into the LEO 2, it automatically triggers the LEO 2 to begin locking.

ii. Battery Life and Charging

Battery Life - Original LINKA

A fully charged Original LINKA battery will last between 2 months and 9 months before the lock needs to be recharged. The actual battery life depends on the sleep settings. If the sleep settings are decreased such that the lock goes to sleep in a shorter amount of time, then the battery life will be increased. Alternatively if the sleep settings are adjusted such that the lock will stay awake longer before going to sleep, then the battery will drain more quickly. See the “Sleep timer” section below for more information.

The Original LINKA can be charged with a micro-USB cable.

Battery Life - LEO 2

The battery life of LEO 2 depends on the Power Mode selected by the fleet and the usage of the lock. The power consumption of the lock will be greater whenever cellular and GPS functions are being used on the LEO 2. Review the LEO 2 Cellular and GPS Documentation for more information.

Pogo Charging - LEO 2

The LEO 2 comes with a 2-pin magnetic pogo cable. This cable allows the LEO 2 to be charged from a standard USB port.

LINKA Solar Panel - LEO 2 Only

In addition to Pogo Charging, the LEO 2 can be charged using the LINKA Solar Panel. The Solar Panel is attached to the bike, and is wired to LEO 2 to enable charging.

E-Bike Connection - LEO 2 Only

In addition to Pogo Charging, the LEO 2 can be charged directly from the E-bike. The voltage range accepted by the cable on LEO 2 is 5V to 55V, which allows the LEO 2 to be wired directly to the battery of the E-bike. In addition to charging from the E-bike, the LEO 2 can detect the voltage level of the E-bike, which corresponds to the battery level of the E-bike.

iii. Setting Configurations

Siren

55

By default, the siren is disabled for LINKA GO usage. If enabled, the LINKA device will sound a siren whenever it is locked and movement is detected. The siren will automatically turn off after a period of time if movement stops. The siren configuration can be set on Fleetview.

Auto-lock

By default, auto-lock functionality is disabled for LINKA GO usage. If enabled, the LINKA device will automatically lock up after a period of time where no movement is detected. The auto-lock configuration can be set on Fleetview.

Sleep timer

The device must be awake in order for the app to be able to connect to the device to unlock it. By default, the device will automatically go to sleep after 30 minutes of inactivity. The sleep timer can be adjusted in Fleetview in the following ways: The sleep timer can be lowered, in which case the device will enter sleep mode more quickly. This will affect user experience such that the user will be required to press the power button more often to wake up the device. Alternatively, the sleep timer can be increased, so the device will be awake for a longer amount of time before entering sleep mode. If the device is awake, then the user will not be required to press the power button on the device when they start their rental.

LEO Tracking Settings

The LINKA LEO and LEO 2 come with built-in GPS and cellular capabilities. This allows the lock to update its location remotely even when a mobile phone is not present. By default, the Power Modes are set to “MID”, which includes the following configuration:

  • ● State Change Ping

  • ● Period Ping

  • ● Theft Tracking

The power mode can be adjusted on Fleetview. For more information, please consult the LEO Tracking documentation.

    Usage with Smart Fob

The Smart Fob allows a user to lock and unlock a device even when a mobile phone is not present. A Smart Fob can be used even while a user is on a LINKA GO rental. The Smart Fob can only be set up using the Operator app by a fleet operations personnel, and cannot be set up by a user.

    Usage with Tethersense

The LEO 2 device can be used with a Tethersense chain or cable. This allows the bike to be fixed to a bike rack. When a Tethersense chain or cable is plugged into a LEO 2 device, the LEO 2 will automatically begin locking.
