When starting a rental, if the lock battery percent is below 10%, the app will automatically cancel the rental, and the lock will not unlock. In addition the lock will be automatically placed into maintenance mode, and the lock should be charged before the lock can be rented.
A bike can be taken out of service from the LINKA GO app. When a bike is out of service, it will no longer be visible on the map page, and users will be unable to start a rental for that bike. A bike can be set Out of Service, or put back In Service on Fleetview.
If the app is unable to establish a bluetooth connection with the LINKA device after 15 seconds, the app will automatically cancel the rental. In this scenario, the app will prompt the user to ensure the lock is awake, and try again.
Occasionally the device will be unable to lock due to interference with the spoke of the bicycle on the locking ring of the LINKA device. When this happens the locking ring on the device will retract, and the user will be prompted to adjust the bike to ensure there is no interference, and then retry locking.
The last recorded location of each bike is displayed in the LINKA GO app. This allows users to locate a nearby available bike. The location of a bike is recorded using the location services of the user’s mobile phone, each time it connects to a LINKA device to lock or unlock. However, if a bike is subsequently moved, the location displayed on the LINKA GO app may no longer be accurate. This issue can be resolved by using the LEO device, which comes with built-in cellular and GPS capability, and allows the lock to update its location even after it is moved. For the Original LINKA, which does not have built-in GPS capability, the location displayed on LINKA GO is always obtained through the user’s mobile phone.
If the location of a bike on the LINKA GO app is inaccurate, it can be updated using the Operator app. Once the Operator app connects to a lock, it will automatically update its location using the location services of the mobile phone.
A user must have a working mobile phone in order to start and end their rental. If the user’s phone battery is low, a warning message will be displayed in the LINKA GO app to alert the user. After the user starts a rental, if the user’s phone dies, they would not be able to end the rental.
If a user phone dies, there are the following work arounds:
The user can access the LINKA GO app using another person’s mobile phone. Once
they log in using the same account, they will be able to access the lock even on a
different mobile phone.
The user can contact the fleet operations personnel. The operations personnel will be
able to lock up the bike using the Operator app, and end the rental on Fleetview or
the Operator app.
Emergency Lock - The user will be able to lock the LINKA device by double pressing
the power button. Even though the LINKA device is locked, the rental would be ongoing.
Smart Fob - If a smart fob is provided to the user, they will be able to lock and unlock the lock even without their mobile phone present.
