Once the user has selected the fleet and logged in, the app will display a map with the bike locations. The user can click on a specific bike to see details for that bike. Or the user can press the “Scan to Ride” button to start their rental.
The user can reserve a bike before they start their rental for 10 minutes. When a bike is reserved by a user, other users will be unable to rent that bike. It is optional for the user to reserve a bike before they start their rental, and they can start their rental without reserving the bike in advance. If a user reserves a specific bike, but selects another bike other than the bike that they reserved, they will still be able to rent the other bike as long as it is available. A user can only reserve one bike at a time.
To start a rental, the user must be next to the bike. Then the user can scan the QR code associated with that particular bike. Alternatively, the user can manually enter the 4-digit number associated with the bike to start their rental.
The LINKA GO app uses the user’s camera to scan the QR code associated with a particular bike. Once a QR code has been scanned, the app will automatically attempt to start the rental. Before using the QR code scan the first time, the app will prompt the user to allow
Camera Permission, and the user must grant the permission in order to use the QR code scan. The user can also enable the flash (1). If the user would like to start a rental by manually entering the bike number, they can choose to open the keypad (2).
To start a rental using the bike number, the user should enter the 4-digit number associated with that bike, and then press “Done” to start the rental.
Once the user has scanned the QR code or entered the bike number, the LINKA GO app will begin unlocking the LINKA device.
For unlocking to take place, bluetooth on the phone must be switched on. On iPhone, bluetooth permission must be granted.
First, the app will prompt the user to press the power button on the LINKA device. If the LINKA device is in sleep mode, pressing the power button will wake up the device.
Once the LINKA device is awake, the LINKA GO app will attempt to connect to the LINKA device via bluetooth. Once a bluetooth connection has been established, the app will send an unlock command to trigger the lock to begin unlocking. Once the lock has fully unlocked, the user will be able to start their ride.
Once the lock has been unlocked, the user can begin their ride. The LINKA GO app will indicate trip information including the riding time, and the bike number.
To pause the ride, the user can press the “Lock” button and then select “Pause Ride”. When the rental is paused, the bike is locked while the user’s rental is ongoing. For example, if the user would like to make a stop at a store, they can pause the ride and lock the bike. If payments are enabled, the fare will continue to be charged while the rental is paused.
To resume the ride after it is paused, the user can press the “Unlock” button in the LINKA GO app. This will unlock the bike and allow the user to continue their ride.
The location of the Geoblocks will be indicated on the map. The user must be inside a Geoblock prior to ending their rental. On the other hand the user can pause the rental even if they are not inside a Geoblock. If the user attempts to end their rental but they are not inside a Geoblock, the app will prompt the user to ride to the nearest Geoblock.
The Geoblocks can be set up on Fleetview. Multiple Geoblocks can be created, in which case the user can end their rental if they are inside any one of the Geoblocks. The size of the Geoblock can vary. It can be as large as a city, an area around a corporate or university campus, or as small as a specific bike parking area.
Once the user is inside a Geoblock, they can press the “Lock” button and then select “End Ride”.
As with unlocking, bluetooth is used for locking. The user must enable bluetooth on their phone to allow locking.
The app will prompt the user to press the power button on the device if it is not already awake.
To lock the device, the app will ask the user to hold and slide.
Once the user has finished this interaction, the lock will begin locking. Once the device has fully locked, the app will indicate that the rental has ended.
After the rental has ended, the app will display a screen indicating the rental details. This includes the duration, fare, and the start and end location of the rental.
